Monte Bolca is famous for its fossil fish and the Mene rhombi is the type fish for the site. The site is one of the world's oldest fossil sites with first written references dating back as far as 1555.
This Mene was probably collated around 1950 and was, based on the matrix color, found in the best layers of the Pesciara. The body of the fish measures 172 mm or almost 7".
